Partial Fraction Expansion

Description

We will be using Sage to expand

(1)
\begin{align} \frac{x^3 - x}{x^2 + 5x + 6} \end{align}

with the .partial_fraction() method

Sage Cell

Code

f(x) = (x^3 - x)/(x^2 + 5*x + 6)
f(x).partial_fraction()

Options

Option

Integrating a rational function will expand it automatically

Code

f(x) = (x^3 - x)/(x^2 + 5*x + 6)
integrate(f(x), x)
